So that this dream can become a reality during your visit, many châteaux have prepared fun, interactive tours and games for children.
This is especially the case at the Château de Cheverny, where everything is in place to delight young visitors!
On the programme:
🧱 LEGO® Exhibition – Cheverny in the Renaissance: The famous little bricks take kids on a journey through time. There are various creations to discover, like the château as it stood in 1510 and even the Mona Lisa!
🗝️ Treasure Hunt – Le Trésor du Chancelier: Follow the clues that lead to Cheverny’s hidden treasure chest. The best treasure hunters might even get to take a piece of the treasure home!
And let’s not forget…📚 Tintin Exhibition – Les Secrets de Moulinsart: Moulinsart is known as Marlinspike Hall in English.
At the Château de Chenonceau, children can explore with a puzzle book and a dedicated audio guide just for them. Have fun discovering this Renaissance gem, with its two galleries spanning the river and its French gardens. Along the way, learn all about the two ladies who shaped the château’s history: Catherine de Medici and Diane de Poitiers.
At the Château de Montpoupon, there is a whole range of activities designed for families. From a guided tour of the château led by Louise, the chambermaid, to the giant Cluedo game or the madeleine baking workshop… There’s something for everyone!
And let’s not forget the forest trail in the château’s park, where children can explore freely, in an unspoiled natural environment, surrounded by the flora and fauna of the Loire Valley.
At the Château de Chambord, children can enjoy a fun guided tour or explore with a puzzle book.
During this entertaining visit, they’ll meet fascinating characters like Julien, the master clockmaker, Brother Thomas or Gaspard, Francis I’s bodyguard. These colourful figures bring history to life as they guide children and their families on an exciting adventure through the château.
At the Château de Valençay, audio guides and puzzle books make the visit fun even for the youngest guests. The 53-hectare park is packed with activities for children such as Antonin’s garden, Napoleon’s giant maze, picnic areas, the saut du loup ditch, a playground, a mini-farm and a deer park. So many opportunities to learn while having fun!
The Fortress of Montbazon, a stone’s throw from Sud Val de Loire, immerses you in a medieval experience.
One of the oldest medieval structures in France, the fortress comes to life with knights, blacksmiths, herbalists and craftmen who share their secrets, skills and stories with young visitors.
Children can learn how to make candles, sculptures, leather jewellery, and pottery!
Finally, to round off our family-friendly château selection, discover the Château des Enigmes – Val de Loire in Fréteval for a day full of adventure! Set in the 19th-century Château de Rocheux and its tree-filled park, children and parents follow a giant treasure hunt alongside Willy and Arsène as they search for King Philip Augustus’ lost treasure.
